METUNG YACHT CLUB – VICTORIAN INTERNATIONAL ETCHELLS CHAMPIONSHIP

Press Release: 10 March, 2021 - Over the Labor Day weekend, Metung Yacht Club held the International Etchells Class Victorian Championships along with the International Dragon Class and International Cadet Victorian championships. Many thanks again to all the Volunteers, Keels on Wheels who were principal sponsor, Stuart Insurance, Helen Crossley Arts Studio and Julie-Anne McPherson Photography for all their time, support and sponsorship.
On Saturday, Principal Race Officers Ross and Kevin Wilson got all 27 boats and crews off and complete 3 races in perfect flat water conditions in a 10 knot Easterly breeze. War of the Roses skipped by Jeff Rose with Craig McCallum and Craig Rainey won the first race, but after 3 races ended the day to lead on equal points with Triad skippered by Kirwin Robb Rodney Muller and Brett Taylor.
Sundays morning forecast was for light winds, so Principal Race Officers Kevin and Ross Wilson held all the crews ashore and delayed the scheduled starting time until a nice 12 knot Easterly wind settled and held. Again three races where held all be it crews arriving back to the dock around 5:30pm. The dominance of Tango skippered by the experienced Chris Hampton and crewed by former world champion Cameron Miles along with Marcus Burke wrapped up the series with a race to spare.
Race 7 on Monday was unfortunately could not be held due to lack of wind.

4th War of the Roses skippered by Jeff Rose with Craig Rainey and Craig McCallum
5th Excite skippered by Toby Richardson with Wayne Johnston and Sam King
Final Standings for the Corinthians Division of the Victorian International Etchells Championships top 3 boats where:
1st Triad skippered by Kirwin Robb, Rodney Muller and Brett Taylor
2nd War of the Roses skippered by Jeff Rose with Craig Rainey and Craig McCallum
3rd Excite skippered by Toby Richardson with Wayne Johnston and Sam King
Final Standings for the Masters Division of the Victorian International Etchells Championships top 3 boats where:
