Spreader Bracket Compliance

For the upcoming 2019 Etchells World Championship we will adopt a similar approach to spreader brackets that was adopted by the International Governors Council for the 2018 Worlds. 

At that time, in an IGC conference call discussion about the spreader brackets and compliance with the Spar Plan drawing, the group agreed to waive compliance to the Spar Plan drawing and pass the issue over to ODTC to recommend how to solve the issue moving forward.  

With regard to the use of fixed or adjustable spreaders at the upcoming 2019 World Championship, we will adopt an interpretation that the spreader can be added to or altered inside the socket to effect spreader angle change and that competitors are not allowed to change the spreader angle during the event.   

It is our plan to pass both the spreader bracket and adjustable spreader issues over to the ODTC to recommend how to solve and clarify the issues moving forward. It is envisioned that the Spar Plan and associated relevant language will need to be adjusted and modified.
